Nigerian-born United States Professors explore effective solutions to youth unemployment and entrepreneurship in a new book

International Guardian, Houston, TX – While Nigeria’s population progresses to a massive 200 million, figures from its National Population Commission reveal that about half of this population is made up of youth. These are mainly individuals between 15 and 34 years of age. Unfortunately, the rate of unemployment among this demographic group grows in the same rapidity. Regime after regime, since it’s independence in 1960, various programs have been introduced to address youth unemployment in Nigeria with little or no success.

Today, the youth unemployment rate in Nigeria has been rising in geometrical progression. In the second quarter of 2016, the youth unemployment rate hit an alarming level of 24 percent from 21.50 percent in the first quarter the same year. While these circumstances are currently submerged into a seemingly intractable economic recession, two Nigeria-born crisis management and organizational leadership exponents, Professors Chris Ehiobuche and Chizoba Madueke have joined a conference of solution-seekers from the academic community with their latest book, “Youth Entrepreneurship.”

It is hard to imagine a time when entrepreneurship could be more important to a nation than during the current economic situation plaguing the Nigerian nation. The rapid rise of inflation inciting widespread youth unemployment and underemployment has increased the need for entrepreneurs and self-sufficient enterprises. The challenges facing the Nigerian youths nowadays are greater than ever. The employment opportunities are diminishing by days. “Our mission in writing this book”, according to Prof. Madueke, is to “facilitate change and offer the young people some ideas and suggestions to help them navigate and mitigate these challenges and seize entrepreneurship opportunities.”

“We believe that this is an idea whose time has come, and may well fall into “the fierce urgency of now.” Nigeria as a country cannot afford to lose these young generations, her todays’ youths’ will be her tomorrows’ leaders’. The paradigm shift to an entrepreneurial mind set, can make a difference, for the youth and for Nigeria. It will behoove our school systems, to adopt this idea toward self-sufficiency, this textbook in its galore”, Prof. Madueke said.

Written in basic sixth-level grammar, Youth Entrepreneurship strives to enable every able self-driven youth the opportunity to be able to gather, garner, and grasp the knowledge about how to start and sustain a solid enterprise.

Written in basic sixth-level grammar, Youth Entrepreneurship strives to enable every able self-driven youth the opportunity to be able to gather, garner, and grasp the knowledge about how to start and sustain a solid enterprise. The book provides a hands-on, transactional outline for future and current business entrepreneurs, managers, and leaders. It showcases a broad and detailed understanding of how entrepreneurships started in Nigeria. It is a must-read resource for any potential entrepreneur.

Co-author, Prof. Ehiobuche said the idea behind the book goes beyond personal motives. “The intrinsic joy for owning a business and its benefits to the Nigerian economy are some of our motivating factors in writing this book. As many existing businesses in Nigeria go through their life cycle, heading toward saturation point, the need for the younger generation to invent and re-invent ideas, products, services and organizations that can produce profitable and sustainable needs and wants of consumers have become unarguable very critical for the Nigerian State”, he said. According to Prof. Ehiobuche, “It is our beliefs that the youth need a change of mind-set, from job seekers to business developers. This book offers the reader a roadmap to successful business startup and continuity.”

I have heard of the youth have been mis-sold PPI, my friend was young and believed that the PPI quote he got was going to support him in the event of sudden redundancy but was misled. For perspective, he looked at firms similar to Paxton Willis. At the end of the process, he found some fantastic legal representation that supported him in his claim. It is always worth doing your research on the market to find the best legal aid for you and your case.
