Academic Doctors Worldwide advocates for peace, academic, and leadership excellence
World Association for Academic Doctors (WAAD) was founded in 2014 by Dr. Henrietta Okoro as a professional non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with headquarters in Maryland. WAAD is an international Organization with a network of doctors in the academia from various fields and eight regional continents: North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Middle East, and Oceania. The recent concluded 3-day inaugural world congress that took place in BWI Airport Marriott from June 8 – 11, 2017, depicted collaboration of huge academic scholarship from participants that includes academic professionals, business leaders, NGO leaders, researchers, and students around the world.
Dr. Okoro said that WAAD’s mission focuses on bringing together the vast potential of professionals around the globe to promote excellence through quality education, advanced research, good leadership, and business ethics aimed at sustainable political, socioeconomic, and scientific growth of the world. To attain this goal, members’ pool their intellectual resources together through conferences and journal publications to offer solutions to world pressing issues for a better tomorrow. The June 2017 inaugural conference theme: ‘Global Perspectives in Business, Government, and Academia’ reinforces this. The communique from the conference serve as a policy tool for restructuring possible solutions in developing countries and around the world prepared by the communique team: Dr. William Woods, Dr. Margaret Vianna, and Dr. Elizabeth Young.
WAAD partner with governments and other agencies to help reinforce the global educational systems of the challenging countries. WAAD having a diverse membership in the eight regional continents will enable penetration in the most marginalized sectors and identify ways to improve quality education and research.

The Founder/President, Dr. Henrietta Okoro delivered a notable speech on “Attaining Excellence in Academia through Effective Leadership.”
The just-concluded Congress saw representatives from nine countries: United States, Brazil, Uganda, Nigeria, Cameroon, India, Turkey, Pakistan, and Ghana. The Association through the intellectual support of the members and piloting of initiatives contributes to the socio-economic advancement of local and international communities.
Dr. Okoro said that “Part of our mission is to support quality education, financial literacy, research, and community development initiatives.” The Association has also contributed to academic research and professional development by piloting and publishing the International Journal of Leadership Education and Business Studies (IJLEBS) in fall 2015. The second IJLEBS publication is scheduled to publish in Fall 2017. The conference emergent themes will feature a Book Publication with Knowledge to Action while Promoting Academic Excellence.

WAAD 2017 Academic Excellence Award, an annual award to recognize graduating high school seniors from various Communities for academic achievements. Eligibility for the Award emerge from rigorous college admission process and being accepted into “ALL” Ivy Leagues Universities. The 2017 awardees are (1) Olawunmi Akinlemibola – Senior at Duval High School, Lanham, Maryland. (2) Martin Altenburg – Senior at Fargo North High School, Fargo, North Dakota, and (3) Ifeoma White-Thorpe – Senior at Morris Hills High School, Rockaway, New Jersey. Celebrating success is a way of motivating others, members of WAAD also presented the eminent leadership award to Dr. Henrietta Okoro, to appreciate her visionary guidance and excellence in leadership.
In appreciation of the founder, Dr. Henrietta Okoro’s excellence in leadership and selfless efforts in organizing a successful world congress, the WAAD representatives from Africa presented a gift to her by Dr. Charles Lagu – WAAD East Africa Coordinator.
The Administrative Director, Governors Commission on African Affairs (GCOAA) and Middle Eastern American Affairs, Mr. Kevin R. Craft read the Governor’s Citation for Martin Altenburg – Senior at Fargo North High School, Fargo, North Dakota, who was unavoidably absent. His academic excellence award plaque was received by Dr. Mayme Nwaneri.
In recognition of WAAD’s dedication to diversity inclusion and exploring solutions for global challenges, it received seven (7) citations from policy makers in the state of Maryland. The citations are from Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, US Senator Van Hollen, US Senator Ben Cardin, Congressman Elijah Cummings, Congressman Ruppersberger, Maryland Senator, Anthony C. Muse, and US Senator Steny Hoyer (Democratic Minority Leader).

During the convention, researchers presented their work regarding environmental protection; agricultural development; statistical interpretation of data; diversity empowerment; incorporation of management and leadership practices, and advancement of innovative research, scholarship, and education.

Scholarly brains converge in Linthicum, Maryland for Inaugural Congress of World Association for Academic Doctors
HOUSTON TX – City of Linthicum, Maryland wore a different look June 8-10, 2017 when the World Association for Academic Doctors (WAAD) converged for their Inaugural World Conference at the BWI Airport Marriott Hotel. Participating guests, including academic professionals, business leaders, NGO leaders, researchers, and students around the world, joined WAAD representatives from various countries worldwide in a 3-day convention that ended yesterday to present information on the global perspectives that limit socio-economic development.
WAAD, a non-profit 501(c)(3) was founded by Dr. Henrietta Okoro to bring together, the vast potentials of professionals in the globe to promote excellence through quality education, advanced research, good leadership, and business ethics aimed at sustainable political, socio-economic, and scientific growth of the world.
Dr. Okoro said the group holds biennial World Congress along with its regional chapters to collaborate on problems of common interest and concern of economic, educational, cultural, and political nature. The theme of the 2017 congress is “Global Perspectives on Business, Government, and Academia.”

In the project facilitated by Dr. Liz Young and Dr. Margaret Vianna, a common theme of interest that permeated each presentation was effective strategies to convert knowledge into action through creative and innovative approaches to promote world peace. Emergent themes from the conference, according to Dr Young centered on work workplace diversity, discovering opportunities in education, optimizing research and scholarship, and creating strategies that promote economic growth.

WAAD’s membership is geographically dispersed covering North America, South America, East Africa, and West Africa. The just concluded congress saw representatives from United States, Brazil, Uganda, and Nigeria. Other were Cameroon, India, Turkey, Pakistan, and Ghana.
The Association through the intellectual support of the members and piloting of initiatives contributes to the socio-economic advancement of local and international communities. Dr. Okoro said that “Part of our mission is to support quality education, financial literacy, research, and community development initiatives.”
